Screen Free Week

Sora's school celebrated screen free week this past week. The past few years we made a big deal of this week, with new toys and fun activities, but this year it just snuck up on us. Also, during the school year, Sora only gets screen time on the weekends so it doesn't seem like as big of a deal.

Anyway, to celebrate this weekend we tried to do some fun things outside. Sora went on a photo scavenger hunt at the arboretum. We went on a hunt there during spring break, but this list was different and Sora had fun with my phone taking pictures.

I learned this was called a samara and only Maple trees have double samaras!

We also drove across town to the best playground in the city. We don't go often because it's like 15 minutes from our house (it's crazy how your perspective changes when you move to a small town where everything is less than 5 min. away).

Sora and I climbed to the very top of the spider web. It's hard to tell, but it's WAY up there!

After the park, we went to dinner to celebrate Kyle's cousin's new job and to wish him good luck on his new journey. Sora discovered the art of the selfie and was excited to take pictures with everyone.

After dinner, we sweet talked my father-in-law and two of Kyle's staff members into helping us move this piano we found on craigslist. The guy who was selling it had gotten it when he moved into his new house and didn't want it. Somehow with my sweet talking personality he decided to give it to us for free.

Sora is super excited about the piano and we're working on some beginning skills so that when she starts lessons in the fall she has a little knowledge already.
