Passion Project

Sora's school does Passion Projects each spring. Each child picks their own topic to research, write a paper on, and then present to parents. Sora chose ice skating this year. She was very nervous, and so she was a little hard to understand, but her paper is actually pretty impressive for a first grader!

Nerdy Board Games

Sora is quite the board game player. I have finally introduced her to nerdy cooperative games and she loves them! She plays Castle Panic at any opportunity she has.

I love this kid!

Soccer Mom

This is Sora's first year playing soccer. Due to the fact that I am a weenie who hates nasty weather and there has been like 5 evenings of extreme wind, this will also be her last year. She isn't a natural, so I'm not stopping a long budding career (even though she loves it and wants to be a professional goalie).
She is super adorable though!

Her team is the purple panthers. There are 2 girls and 10 boys. There are 5 teams in the YMCA league all together, and all the practices and games are in the same field. Which means eventually her tiny team of 6 & 7 year olds will be playing the "big kids". Oh well, she didn't really stand much of a chance anyway. But did I mention how adorable she is?!

Chapter Book Sale

Sora had a "chapter book sale" in the front yard. She was upset that she only had 2 customers (me and Kyle). Of course, most of these were library books, so it's probably a good thing that there wasn't more interest.
She has been obsessed with the front yard swing lately. She is attempting to befriend the neighbor boys, so spending a lot of time outside their house is her strategy. So far when she says hello or hola, they just run away from her.
As you can see, Sora is obsessed with fairy books lately. There must be a thousand books in the Rainbow Fairy series, despite having only 6 colors in the rainbow.

Camp Work Day

While there were a ton of things that got done on Camp work day this year, here are my two favorite. The first is the office. It had a super nasty carpet that was never clean. I spend a lot of time here in the summer, since it is attached to the director's cabin and I'm basically forced to work for Kyle for free, so this nasty carpet really bothered me. My sweet parents bought this laminate flooring and my father installed it. It looks amazing! I am so excited to be able to be barefoot in this room now!
Also, the entire cabin is wood panel. It is dark and depressing. It had dark window coverings too, which we are replacing, but I decided to paint to help brighten the house up. My mom helped paint while my dad did the floor and now it looks a million times better! What a quaint room to spend my time in. Now if only this floor wasn't that super nasty carpet too. There's always something...
