Letters from Camp

This is Sora's letter from camp. I love the tact that she tries to use by stating "we need to communicate better" rather than just "Why did you tell grandma I don't want any mail?". In actuality, grandma and I must have miscommunicated because I knew exactly what Sora wanted, but I thought it was a very sweet way of wording a letter for a 7 year old.

Jr. Gap 2 Gap

Sora ran 2 legs of the Jr. Gap 2 Gap this morning. The first was a .75 mile run, which was the start of the race. She was pretty excited, but also pretty nervous.
Luckily, there were a lot of kids from her school that she knew.
Here she is right behind a classmate of hers - she didn't walk at all!
Then she waited for her next leg - the obstacle course, the last leg of the race.
 Here she is finishing strong:
The slip and slide was not very slippery. She dolphined down the hill.
At the end, Sora was cold and wet, even though it was 90 degrees.

She has such complex, grown up emotions. She wasn't crazy about running or getting wet. She wasn't crazy about being so far behind the other teams. She wasn't crazy about not getting an award for team name (The Jewels) or their team outfits.

It will be interesting to see how she talks about this event in a few weeks (if she feels more positive or negative about the whole experience)- she has already mentioned some changes for next year.
