Most weekends Sora fends for herself at camp while Kyle is busy and I either help or hide. Mother/Daughter was a time I could neither help nor hide. I actually had to mother. We spent the weekend in a cabin, which meant Sora was excited and I had to go to another building twice a night for each of us to use the restroom.

Because she gets so much camp time, cabin time is more of a novelty. We spent a lot of time reading in the cabin.
Sora did choose to go on the nature hike Kyle lead.
We also played games in the cabin.
And did some random arts and crafts.
Sora has a stash of toys at camp, these blocks being among them.
 We built a fort.
We also went on a hike and saw early wildflowers.
Our hike lead us to a waterfall.
It was a little cold, but we had a great time!

Surprise Visit

Sora had a random episode of red cheeks on Tuesday, so I took her to the doctor. We just switched insurance companies, so we scrambled to find an urgent care, but it was smooth and just really boring. The doctor prescribed some medicine and Sora is on the upswing again.
To celebrate the end of swimming, we celebrated by painting our toes. Sora wanted to paint each other's, but I'm too much of a perfectionist for that. I told her she could experiment on herself instead.
 Here's a close up of why I wasn't wrong.
Now that the school year is winding down and camp is ramping up, we decided to end swim team a little early. Kyle has been very helpful with bringing her to swim often, and now he won't be able to. Plus, Sora is still busy with ballet, piano, and her new loves: the violin and her bicycle.

Spring Break: Part 2

We were glad we brought our bikes to Portland so we could do some serious riding! We found a trail that went up one side of the river and down the other - over 4 miles of awesomeness! Unfortunately, Sora wiped out twice in the last few minutes of the trail for some serious scrapes.
I still talked her into this awesome nature park and another short bike ride around it.

We tried cherimoya while we were in Portland. We ate it raw and it was unlike anything I've ever had before. The verdict is still out on whether we liked it.
Sora and Kyle at our only coffee shop experience. We shopped and bought more books and looked at amazing arts and crafts.
We met my mom at the train station and spent a few days with her as well.

Here is Sora trying the cherimoya.
We had a great time at the grotto, eating all kinds of awesome foods, and exploring Portland's First Thursday night art walk. Here are Sora and Kyle posing for some great selfies at this delicious Mexican restaurant.
Of course all good things must come to an end. We left Portland and my mom this morning and are now back to real life. Kyle had to go straight up to camp so Sora and I get to enjoy a quiet few days at home before school starts back on Monday.

Spring Break: Part 1

We have been taking advantage of Sora's new bike and joined some friends at a walk-in park (it's a mile from the parking lot, so we rode our bikes to it). We have been alone, but it's so much better with friends!

Then, we headed out of town for our spring break trip to Portland. We stopped at Stonehenge:
We also stopped at a museum where Sora and I explored our pioneer sides.

And Sora and Kyle came across a Mastodon!
On the way to Portland, we also stopped and hiked to three waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls.
And of course we stopped at Vista House for one of my favorite views.
The next day, we took the MAX downtown. We walked a mile from our AirBnB to the station only to realize we had left our debit card back at our rental! Kyle walked back and got it while Sora and I played at the park.
Sora loved Powells, of course, and had an extremely hard time deciding what to get. Luckily for her, we helped her eventually decide.
We had a delicious lunch with steamed pork buns, pizza, and fancy ramen right before hitting up the crazy donut shop.
Sora conked out quickly after a long day of walking over 10 miles!
